MICHAEL CONLAN will look to Wasserman Boxing to help steer him towards another world title shot after signing a promotional agreement with them.
The โlong-term dealโ will be a boost to the 33-year-old who this week launched his own management company Conlan Boxing Management.
Conlan, 18-3 (9 KOs), last fought on December 2 last year but the fight ended in another disastrous defeat for the Belfast boxer. Jordan Gillโs power proved too much for Conlan getting the job done in the seventh round. That loss came 19 months after his second unsuccessful world title attempt when Luis Alberto Lopez also proved too powerful retaining his IBF Featherweight title by fifth round stoppage.
The first attempt to win a world strap came in the 2022 Fight of the Year when Conlan travelled to Leigh Woodโs backyard to win the WBA strap. A scintillating start by the Irishman was reined in at the Nottingham Arena by Wood who sensationally knocked Conlan out of the ring in the 12th and final round ending one of the most dramatic fights ever seen in the UK.
In todayโs official announcement from Wasserman the former Olympic medallist made it clear that his main goal remains the same.
โI turned professional in 2017 with a clear goal โ to become world champion.
โI still firmly believe I have the ability to get to the very top, and I did not want to retire and, 10 or 15 years down the line, be thinking โwhat if?โ.
โAnd for this defining period in my career, it was vital to partner with the right promoter and I am thrilled to team up with Kalle, Nisse and the whole team at Wasserman Boxing.
โVery soon, Iโll be able to share news of my comeback fight. Stay tuned.โ
