Matchroom Boxing announce December 14 return to Monaco
Monte Carlo, Monaco - November 4: Souleymane Cissokho v Isaias Lucero, WBC Silver Welterweight Title

MATCHROOM have announced a return to Monaco, which will take place on December 14.

Eddie Hearn shows have become a fixture on the sporting calendar in the Principality and this will be the fifth time he has promoted there.

Last time out, Welshman Joe Cordina controversially defended his IBF super-featherweight title via a razor tight decision over Edward Vazquez.

That event, which also featured Adrian Curiel’s victory over Sivenathi Nontshinga, took place at the Casino de-Monte Carlo but they will return to the Salle Des Etoiles this time.

It will represent Matchroom’s first show there since 2016, when Jason Sosa outpointed Stephen Smith but, perhaps more infamously, Luis Ortiz beat Malik Scott via shutout.

An announcement on who will feature on this year’s event will follow shortly, according to Hearn.

He said: “I’m excited to announce Matchroom Boxing’s return to Monaco for Monte-Carlo Showdown V on December 14.

“We return to the magnificent Salles Des Etoiles for the first time since 2016. The event has become an important date on the Monaco sports and entertainment calendar and fighters, media, broadcasters and fans all love the experience.

“We will announce the full fight line-up shortly and fans can expect another unmissable evening of World Championship Boxing.”
