Lewis Edmondson vs Ezra Taylor confirmed for Parker-Wardley bill

IT HAS been officially confirmed that Lewis Edmondson will put his British and Commonwealth light-heavyweight titles on the line against Ezra Taylor on October 25.

Their anticipated grudge match, which has seemingly been in the works for quite some time, has also been added to the undercard of Joseph Parker vs Fabio Wardley.

With the event taking place at the O2 Arena, London, it was announced by Queensberry promotions earlier today that, following weeks of speculation, Edmondson-Taylor will, indeed, feature on the β€˜All or Nothing’ bill next month.

Edmondson, 11-1 (3 KOs), claimed his domestic belts at 175lbs after dethroning Dan Azeez, albeit in contentious fashion, with a majority decision victory last year.

Not long after that, β€˜The Saint’ found himself involved in another controversial battle, this time against Daniel Lapin, which ultimately saw his unbeaten run come to an end in July.

But despite dropping a razor-thin majority decision at Wembley Stadium, Edmondson nonetheless came away with his championship status intact.

This, then, created the perfect opportunity for the 29-year-old to defend his titles against Taylor, 12-0 (8 KOs), the Lonsdale Belt mandatory challenger, in a bid to finally settle their rivalry.

For the best part of a year, the pair have gone back-and-forth, both via social media and in person, ahead of what should deliver a compelling domestic dustup.

Taylor comes off a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over Troy Jones, representing his first outing under the tutelage of head coach Malik Scott who, beyond his fighting career, is perhaps best known for training Deontay Wilder for a number of years.

But of course, only time will tell as to whether that link-up will prove effective against Edmondson, who, stylistically, offers a vastly different set of tricks to the 31-year-old boxer-puncher.
