Lee Selby will fight Fernando Montiel next

IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby has announced his next fight. The Welshman will fight former world champion Fernando Montiel on October 14 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona on a Premier Boxing Champions show.

Selby won the IBF title in style against then champion Evgeny Gradovich in London in May. Subsequently he signed with influential advisor Al Haymon. October 14 will be his first fight on a Premier Boxing Champions show, his first bout in America and his first world title defence.

Montiel was levelled by Nonito Donaire’s left hook in 2011 and lost to Victor Terrazas that same year. Since then he has gone on a eight fight winning streak in Mexico.
