KUBRAT PULEV hammered Samuel Peter to defeat at Arena Armeec in Sofia, Bulgaria to win a vacant WBA Inter-Continental heavyweight title.

Pulev, the European heavyweight champion, was in the frame to challenge IBF champion Anthony Joshua and will remain in the picture after picking up this win. The Bulgarian was in control, leaving Peter swinging wildly. Peter, thick round the midriff, is 36 years old and a long time has passed since he gave Wladimir Klitschko some problems. This was only Peterโ€™s third fight since 2011. Pulev jabbed him into submission. Peter clubbed him round back of the head. He did get a right through. But Pulev was unruffled and continued to subject Sam to punishment.

Peter finished the third round leaning on the ropes, his arm hanging down and was retired.

Kubratโ€™s brother Tervel Pulev, an Olympic bronze medallist, made his professional debut, stopping Tomislav Rudan in three rounds.

Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin advanced to 17-0 (11) outpointing Raphael Zumbano Love over 10 rounds.
