KO artist Elif Nur Turhan joins Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom stable

UNBEATEN contender Elif Nur Turhan has earned herself a promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing after ending her last fight in devastating fashion.

Her mightily impressive performance arrived on the undercard of Lewis Crocker and Paddy Donovan’s clash at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland, last month.

The 29-year-old’s opponent, Shauna Browne, was widely expected to extend her unblemished record in what was deemed a stern but calculated test on home soil.

And yet, it was not long before Turhan, 10-0 (6 KOs), much the away fighter, tore their script to shreds with an emphatic first-round finish.

It was a crushing left hook, in fact, that saw the Turkish puncher claim her career-best victory, leaving Browne in no position to clamber back to her feet.

Despite fighting at 135lbs in her last two outings, Turhan is ranked number two by the IBF and three by the WBA at super-featherweight, presenting her with several options in the division below.

Alycia Baumgardner, however, is still the undisputed queen at 130lbs, meaning that an immediate title shot for the tremendous puncher may not be so straightforward.

Should she choose to resume her destructive surge at lightweight, though, Turhan would then be far more likely to challenge for world honours before long.

With both Terri Harper and Beatriz Ferreira fighting under the Matchroom banner, either champion could represent a possible option for Hearn’s latest signing.

Harper, of course, must first defend her WBO strap against Natalie Zimmermann on May 23, while IBF titlist Ferreira is still yet to announce her next opponent.
