KIERON Conway looks to elevate his position on the domestic scene at 160lbs when he squares off against Gerome Warburton on May 17.
Their intriguing clash, which takes place at the Copper Box Arena in London, England, will feature on the undercard of Johnny Fisher and Dave Allenโs heavyweight rematch.
Conway, 22-3-1 (6 KOs), earned his shot at the vacant British middleweight title โ last held by Denzel Bentley โ after edging a split decision against Ryan Kelly in November.
Before that, the Northampton man produced a far more clinical display to halt Ainiwaer Yilixiati in Japan, with his victory following an equally emphatic stoppage over Linus Udofia in 2023.
In doing so, the 28-year-old has remained unbeaten since his unanimous decision defeat to Austin โAmmoโ Williams, while his only other professional losses came against Souleymane Cissokho and Derrick Osaze.
Hoping to scupper his plans, however, is Warburton, 15-1-2 (2 KOs), who boxed to a draw against Kelly โ the pairโs only common opponent โ last year.
The 29-year-oldโs most notable victory, meanwhile, arrived against Aaron Sutton in early 2024, putting him in a strong position to get mandated for a shot at the coveted Lonsdale Belt.
Sutton, as it happens, will appear on the same Matchroom Boxing card next month against British middleweight prospect George Liddard.
Joining Liddard on the bill, too, is ferocious puncher Jimmy Sains, who takes on Gideon Onyenani for the vacant Southern Area middleweight title.
With plenty of action at 160lbs in store, both Liddard and Sains โ two fighters trained by Tony Sims โ will hope to extend their unblemished records with statement performances.
