Key member of Daniel Dubois’ training team announces his exit

DANIEL Dubois’ team has lost a member just weeks after the London heavyweight lost his IBF title in Wembley Stadium. The one-sided knockout defeat to Oleksandr Usyk was a damaging blow, and speculation gathered over a possible staffing shake-up.

Veteran trainer Don Charles remains, at present, as the chief cornerman, but Manchester’s Kieran Farrell revealed in a Facebook post that he will no longer be part of the team after opting to step aside and focus on other projects.

“I have made the decision to part ways with Team Dubois. In the 18 months with Daniel Dubois we’ve achieved so much including a unforgettable night at Wembley stadium, helping Daniel become world heavyweight champion has been truly rewarding on a number of levels. I wish Daniel all the best going forward,” wrote Farrell.

“I won’t be making any further comment at present, but needless to say im excited for what’s next for myself and look forward to making many more world champions.”

Farrell hooked up with Dubois in 2024 and was part of the team that conquered first Filip Hrgovic and later Anthony Joshua in a huge career-boosting victory for ‘DDD’.

Dubois entered the Usyk rematch holding the IBF title, bidding to become an undisputed champion, only to be foiled for the second time by the masterful Ukrainian.

As Farrell exits, it has been rumoured that ubiquitous boxing manager and adviser Sam Jones will soon hook up with the Dubois team in the near future. As for Farrell, who was forced to retire as a pro in 2012 after a defeat to Anthony Crolla left him with a brain injury, he will continue to run his gym and work with his other fighters.
