Kevin Mitchell loses out on immediate Jorge Linares rematch

JORGE LINARES will defend his WBC world lightweight title against Ivan Cano on October 10 in his native Venezuela.

Jupiter Fight Boxing, who will promote the show, confirmed the fight which means Kevin Mitchell has not secured a rematch of his enthralling clash with Linares in May.

Mitchell dropped the champion in the fifth only to be stopped five rounds later at the O2 Arena in London.

Linares, who lives in Tokyo, Japan, will be fighting in Venezuela for the first time in five years.

A former light-welterweight, this will be Mexican Cano’s first world title fight.
