FOR his second defence of the WBO welterweight world title, Jeff Horn failed his first attempt to make weight. It proved to be more a miscalculation. When he returned, he scaled the 147lbs limit exactly.
Crawford came in under the limit at 146.5lbs.
This will be Crawfordโs first fight at welterweight. The brilliant American, a former lightweight champion, unified all four light-welterweight world titles last time out. Against Horn, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday, Crawford will bid for a world title in his third weight class.
Horn shocked Manny Pacquiao to win the WBO crown in a major upset last year. Despite that he is a significant underdog against Crawford.
โI’m surprised I’m as big of an underdog as I am for the fight. I’m not surprised I am the underdog. Terenceย Crawfordย is a great fighter, pound-for-pound, wiped out the super-lightweight division. That’s a tough division as well,โ Horn said.
โI’ve made this mistake before. I underestimated a guy that was slightly smaller than me – in the amateurs – and he knocked me down a couple times. I won’t be making that same mistake. Terence, I know he’s put on the size. He’s going to be a nice, strong welterweight. I can’t wait to get in there and prove the doubters wrong.”
