Jeff Horn is still putting the WBO welterweight world title on the line against Terence Crawford

FOR his second defence of the WBO welterweight world title, Jeff Horn failed his first attempt to make weight. It proved to be more a miscalculation. When he returned, he scaled the 147lbs limit exactly.

Crawford came in under the limit at 146.5lbs.

This will be Crawford’s first fight at welterweight. The brilliant American, a former lightweight champion, unified all four light-welterweight world titles last time out. Against Horn, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday, Crawford will bid for a world title in his third weight class.

Horn shocked Manny Pacquiao to win the WBO crown in a major upset last year. Despite that he is a significant underdog against Crawford.

“I’m surprised I’m as big of an underdog as I am for the fight. I’m not surprised I am the underdog. Terence Crawford is a great fighter, pound-for-pound, wiped out the super-lightweight division. That’s a tough division as well,” Horn said.

“I’ve made this mistake before. I underestimated a guy that was slightly smaller than me – in the amateurs – and he knocked me down a couple times. I won’t be making that same mistake. Terence, I know he’s put on the size. He’s going to be a nice, strong welterweight. I can’t wait to get in there and prove the doubters wrong.”
