George Kambosos Jr and Jake Wyllie weigh in for all-Aussie super-lightweight clash

Kambosos vs Wyllie

GEORGE KAMBOSOS JR knows heโ€™s potentially one win away from another world title shot, but first has to overcome fellow Aussie and Daud Yordan replacement Jake Wyllie.

The 31-year-old is now campaigning at super-lightweight after a successful period at 135lbs that included his shock win over Teofimo Lopez in November 2021 to win three world titles.

Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko have outclassed the โ€˜Ferociousโ€™ one since and Maxi Hughes feels rightly hard done by after his points loss to Kambosos in July 2023. But having joined forces with Matchroom Kambosos is now in the running to face current IBF 140lb champion Richardson Hitchins who also fights under the Matchroom banner.

Wyllie, however, has nothing to lose and had been set to fight on the upcoming Tim Tszyu-Joseph Spencer card on April 6. A win against Kambosos would not only change his life but thrust him into world title contention.

Also on tomorrowโ€™s card at the Qudos Bank Arena Skye Nicolson defends her WBC featherweight world title against the confident Tiara Brown while Nina Hughes looks to avenge her first pro defeat against current WBA bantamweight champion Cherneka Johnson.
