Former opponents and elite fighters five their expert insight into Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez in this week’s issue of Boxing News magazine:
Canelo’s there to be hit and his style means he likes taking his chances to get his own combinations off so he is often in range. In terms of weaknesses you can exploit, I think Golovkin can exploit along the same lines by setting the pace early on and then taking over late.
Kell Brook:
It’s hard to see a weakness in Golovkin, there was nothing in his eyes. But I do believe that if you keep to the gameplan and listen to your trainer and use your brain he’s definitely beatable and I thought I showed the blueprint early on.
Ryan Rhodes:
Well I couldn’t find any in Canelo! It looks like sometimes, when you think he can take a guy out he sometimes plays it safe. I think he could’ve taken Chavez Jnr out at any time but he didn’t and took it the distance. I think he sometimes likes to play safe. If he’s winning easily, he’ll keep winning.
