FRANK WARREN has hinted that Canelo Alvarez and Hamzah Sheeraz could meet in the future ahead of Sheeraz’ clash with WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames on Saturday night.

Undefeated Slough-born Sheeraz, 21-0 (17 KOs), heads into this weekend’s highly anticipated fight in Riyadh as a favourite despite being the challenger, and fight fans and promoters are already looking ahead to the future of British boxing’s rising star.

Speaking to Boxing News this week, promoter Warren has spoke about what the future could hold for Sheeraz if he gets past Dominican champion Adames, 24-1 (18 KOs).

“If he (Sheeraz) comes through this fight, he is a possible opponent for Canelo. Canelo’s next two fights are already sorted against William Scull and Terence Crawford, but the third fight could potentially be Canelo-Sheeraz.”

The Mexican pound-for-pound great recently signed a four-fight deal with Turki Alalshikh and Riyadh Season, and while discussions about a potential fight between Sheeraz and Canelo may seem premature, Warren is backing his man to dethrone Adames on Saturday which could set up an exciting list of big fights to look forward too.

“He’s in with a very good professional fighter, but I believe in him [Sheeraz]. He’s done everything that’s been asked of him and been in with some very good opponents and he’s done it the hard way.

“He’s worked his way up from the small halls and York Halls of this world to get to where he’s at. He has become a competent, accomplished fighter who is great in the ring and exciting to watch. Outside the ring he’s a fantastic ambassador for our sport.”
