Two more will be hitting the small screen in the future but there are plenty more ideas to explore, writes Shaun Brown

BOXING is like no other sport. The drama of a fight week and a fight night can be extraordinary and outrageous. But throughout its checkered history boxing has found itself in the headlines for the right reasons and the wrong reasons. Documentary and film-makers are drawn to the sweet science because of all the above and more.

Next month ‘Four Kings’ – a documentary looking back at Lennox Lewis vs. Frank Bruno and the Nigel Benn-Chris Eubank rematch – will air on Amazon Prime and looks to be another compelling watch on the small screen.

However, it’s not just fighters who are having their stories told in front of the camera. Today, it was announced that a documentary series following Eddie and Barry Hearn and the Matchroom empire will be shown on Netflix.

Boxing News offers five more documentary ideas that would make be a must-watch for fans.

Manny vs. Mexico

A look back at Manny Pacquiao’s nine battles with Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez. Wouldn’t it be great to get all four in one room where they could be interviewed about the fights, the results and their rivalries. A trip to Mexico to interview fight fans and media to get their Pacquiao opinions could be eye-opening.

The Scott Harrison Story

A featherweight fighting machine from Scotland that could have gone on to fight some of the great featherweights of his era. Instead he spent more time in prison than in a boxing ring. Maybe it’s time for a no holds barred look into his life with Scott and those involved giving their sides ensuring there is balance throughout.

Chocolatito

A look back at the life and career of Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez. A fan favourite and modern boxing legend who continues to box despite his career now into its 20th year. Everyone loves Chocolaito.

Boxing and PEDs

We all know that boxing continues to be plagued by performance enhancing drugs but where did it all begin? Who is prepared to go on camera and speak about it? What do we know and what don’t we know? And how big is the problem? This would need more than one episode, that’s for sure.

Itchy Knuckles

A three-part series following three fighters at different stages of their careers and have to balance a job and fighting. Selling tickets on the small hall circuit, for example, is a must and few people outside of the sport know about the toll that the balancing act takes on fighters who don’t have a big TV promoter behind them.
