The Big Question: Who will own the various world heavyweight titles by the end of the year?

This week's panellists are asked to predict how the world heavyweight titles will be distributed when 2021 comes around

The Big Question: Who will own the various world heavyweight titles by the end of the year?

Mickey Helliet (boxing promoter)

Because of the politics involved I think there is still quite a bit of ‘feeling out’ likely between the respective champions before they meet in the ring. Providing they both stay unbeaten I see Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua meeting early next year to unify all the belts.

Callum Johnson (light-heavyweight contender)

I expect Tyson Fury to dethrone Deontay Wilder and still be the WBC heavyweight champion by the end of the year. I also think Anthony Joshua will hold all the others. If this happens, it will set up a mouthwatering clash between the pair in 2021.

Chris McKenna (journalist)

I believe Fury will be the WBC champion as he will have beaten Wilder twice by the end of the year. But because it will be a summer fight when it does happen, he won’t have had time to face Anthony Joshua. I believe Joshua – because of the absurdity of the demands from sanctioning bodies – will be forced to drop the WBO title and Oleksandr Usyk will have that belt. Joshua will still retain the IBF and WBA after beating Kubrat Pulev and another fighter in either America or Saudi Arabia.

Dave Allen (heavyweight contender)

I think the Wilder vs. Fury II winner cements their position as the number one in the division. I don’t think 2020 will be the year we see a fight with all four heavyweight titles on the line, but I do believe Joshua and Fury will be the two men holding them by the time 2021 comes around.
