Only Tyson Fury knows how he found the strength to rise against Deontay Wilder

DEONTAY WILDER d sd 12 TYSON FURY
Dec 1, 2018; Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA
PRIOR to a pair of low-key comeback bouts in the summer of 2018, Fury had been out of the ring for two-and-a-half years, in a haze of drink, drugs, depression and obesity. By the time he took on Wilder, three years had elapsed since “The Gypsy King” had bamboozled Wladimir Klitschko to become the unified world heavyweight champion. Wilder, who was making the eighth defence of his WBC title, struggled to come to terms with his unorthodox rival’s herky-jerky movement. Despite this, he still managed to floor Fury twice – once in the ninth and once in the 12th. The second knockdown seemed certain to conclude matters, yet Tyson somehow made it upright and, even more incredibly, was able to finish the fight in the ascendancy. Fury looked to have done enough to win, but instead the contest was branded a draw.

DID YOU KNOW? Around 10,000 Brits travelled out to the US to support Fury.

WATCH OUT FOR: Fury’s remarkable resurrection in the final round. Only he knows how he found the strength to rise from the canvas after Wilder’s thunderous right-left combination.
