Curious training updates from Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather

It appears Conor McGregor has some strange ideas

John Dennen

31st July, 2017

AS Conor McGregor, a star in MMA, prepares for his first professional boxing contest, which just so happens to be against Floyd Mayweather, he has been issuing photographs from his training camp.

It’s hard to read much into the photos but in the latest dispatch, a snap of McGregor throwing an uppercut, he expounded on his theories of boxing.

He wrote: “In order to have complete freedom in your shot selection and direction, you must first gain the ability to disconnect each limb from the body safely.

“This is a right hand uppercut. But notice the separation in the shoulder joint. From the rotator cuff, to the clavicle and collar bone. The entire joint has complete freedom and separation.

“That whip of a shot is free to go in any direction.

“The same rules apply for every part of the body. Freedom in the body equals freedom in the strike.” He signed off, “Yours sincerely, the greatest.”

Whether McGregor is capable of rewriting all form and expectation when it comes to boxing, is quite another thing.

Mayweather, 40 years old, has come out of retirement for this contest. Presumably he is taking McGregor somewhat seriously. But he posted a video of himself working on his basketball game:
