Jack Catterall vs. Arnold Barboza Jr – Boxing Betting Prediction

JACK Catterall and Arnold Barboza Jr meet over 12 rounds this evening in Manchester in a super-lightweight contest that neither man can afford to lose. Given their styles and struggles to this point, victory will propel the winner towards a crack at the full WBO title.

Catterall (4/11) is on solid form, having dismissed Jorge Linares, Josh Taylor (in a heated rematch) and Regis Prograis to leave himself close to the summit of success. Barboza Jr (11/5) is also on a good run of form, having dismissed Jose Ramirez on Latino Night over 10 rounds of tedium.

Catterall has been accused of posting less-than-exciting performances in the past. The Chorley man’s tricky southpaw stance could pose the same kind of issues Barboza encountered against Belfast mover Sean McComb. Many thought the Irishman did enough to win that one.

Catterall is sharp and accurate, boasting a sweet right lead jab. He has been known to be ultra-conservative, even when faced with a wounded animal.

Catterall by stoppage (9/2) is not outside the realms of possibility, given the way he buzzed and jarred Prograis in the ninth round. He’ll most likely outbox Barboza Jr to a points win, picking up an interim crown and placing himself in line for the big one.
