Carl Frampton inspires Conrad Cummings

MIDDLEWEIGHT Conrad Cummings gets a key showcase on the undercard of the Carl Frampton-Chris Avalos world title fight tonight (Saturday February 28) against Roberto Palenzuela. Overseen by coach Shane McGuigan, Conrad, an Irish international amateur and now a 5-0 (2) pro, trains with IBF champion Carl Frampton.

“It’s pushing me on. That’s where I want to be in a couple of years’ time. We’re doing the same runs, circuits. I’m a hard grafter, I can push him on and he can push me on, we bounce off each other. It’s working well and the team’s growing,” Cummings said.

After Friday’s lively weigh-in Conrad is looking forward to boxing at the Odyssey Arena and appearing on ITV 4 (the main event will be on ITV). “It’ll be something special,” Cummings said. “No one’s putting pressure on me but me as a person I put pressure on myself, I always want to perform and impress. I’m fighting on ITV now and I want to impress, that’s always going to be the case. But I’m just going to try my best to enjoy it and soak it up.

“I’ve worked so hard these last couple of months so go out and enjoy it. This is something you dream of so take it all in as best you can.”
