BOXING NEWS understands that Lee McGregor has signed a promotional agreement with Wasserman Boxing.
The 26-year-old Scot, who will return at super-bantamweight, is set to make his debut under their banner in his home city of Edinburgh this summer, live on Channel 5.
McGregor had been a promotional free agent and after a frustrating 2022 returned to the ring in March with an eight-round points win against Alexis Boureima Kabore in Newcastle.
Last year โLightningโ Lee managed just one outing which ended in a 10-round draw against the useful Diego Alberto Ruiz. The Argentinian then lost two on the spin before upsetting the odds against former European super-bantamweight champion Gamal Yafai in February.
McGregor blazed a trail in the first 10 fights of a career which has only had 13 in total. Five years ago. in his fifth fight he defeated Thomas Essomba to become Commonwealth bantamweight champion. A win that has since aged well with Essomba becoming European champion at 118lbs last month.
On November 16, 2019, in Glasgow, McGregor was involved in a Scottish boxing classic when he and Kash Farooq waged war on one another. After 12 pulsating rounds, shown live on BBC Scotland, McGregor emerged as the new British bantamweight champion.
In just his 10th fight McGregor displayed his power when he stopped Karim Guerfi in one round to win the European title. Trained by Ben Davison the sky appeared to be the limit for the Heart of Midlothian fan who harbours dreams of one day fighting at Tynecastle.
Since the win over Guerfi in March 2021 McGregor has fought just three times which included a fourth round success over Vincent Legrand in the first defence of his European belt.
McGregor will now look to recapture his form of the past beginning in the Scottish capital this summer.
