WITH speculation rife as to what the next move for Juan Manuel Marquez will be , the Mexican legend told Boxing News that he is in the gym training seriously. He may be 41 years old but Marquez won’t be stepping away from the sport any time soon.

“Every day I enjoy my training. I enjoy when I go to run. I enjoy everything,” he said.

And when Marquez is in the gym, he means business. “Every day is serious training. When I go to train in the gym, I train very hard,” he continued.

The most recent conqueror of Manny Pacquiao and an old foe of Floyd Mayweather, Marquez has been linked to potential fight with IBF champion Kell Brook.

Marquez however is in London to support stablemate Daniel Estrada, who fights Kevin Mitchell at the O2 on Saturday. Estrada couldn’t ask for a better training partner. “Every day we go to run in the morning, every day he went to train in the gym. Now I start training in the gym. Every day Daniel trains all day,” the Mexican great said.

“Daniel is doing very well and was training very hard in Mexico. He’s been running in the mountains for periods.

“His trainer is Nacho Beristain, a famous trainer in Mexico. He wants to do everything Nacho tells him next Saturday, [it will be] a top fight next Saturday.”

Marquez has some respect for British boxers, saying, “Strong fighters, the fighters here in London are very strong. [Mitchell] is a little smart and very strong, he lands a lot of punches, very strong. Great fighters.

“In different countries people will see a great fight. Next Saturday people will see a great fight with Mitchell and Daniel.”
