EVEN though he challenges WBA super-middleweight champion George Groves on February 17, Chris Eubank Jr is keeping a close eye on the other contenders in the World Boxing Super Series. Eubank has his semi-final against Groves in Manchester, in the other semi-final Callum Smith will box Juergen Braehmer at a location and on a date still to be confirmed.
“These are the men I’m going to be fighting after Groves,” Eubank told Boxing News. “I think it’s a good fight. I think Smith is the favourite. I haven’t really seen Juergen Braehmer. They both got through their fights, nothing spectacular, nothing I’m worried about. That final with whoever comes through that fight will be a great fight for the fans.”
He continued, “I haven’t actually seen that much of Smith. I saw his last fight obviously with Erik Skoglund and I’ve seen one or two before that but I haven’t really studied him. I’m not focused on him. I’m not focused on whether he’s going to be a harder fight [than Groves]. I’m focused on just going in there and taking George Groves out in front of thousands of people.”
