TO confirm himself as a leading contender at super-middleweight, Danny Jacobs wanted an emphatic, statement win over Gabriel Rosado on Friday (November 27) in Florida. He did not get that, although he managed to come through with a split decision victory.
In a harsh moment for Rosado, a mistake from the announcer, declaring the victor from Philadelphia meant he thought heโd won the fight.
Jacobs was left apologetic for his performance afterwards. โI thought I could have done a little bit better,โ Danny said. โI obviously didnโt show everything that I needed to.โ
โI was looking for shots to load up, I was looking for the right hand,โ he added. โI guess I got right hand happy.
โI apologise to all the fans who expected more impact, a more jam packed fight. Thereโs always next time.
โNo excuse. Iโm a professional. I didnโt give my best effort but my effort was enough to get me the victory. I look forward, like I said before, to next time giving my fans a better show.โ
Rosado was left raging at the decision. โI thought I made it look easy,โ he said. โI thought I won today.โ
