23:40
That’s all folks
From a mad night in Manchester, where Dereck Chisora does the business for No.49, that’s goodnight. Here’s to the 50th.
23:37
Options for 50
Chisora brings up rappers Skepta, Tinie Tempah and Lethal Sizzle to help him decide who he fights for No.50. He holds up pictures of Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois and it’s AJ who gets the biggest cheer. Let’s see if that could possibly happen.
23:30
DERECK CHISORA UD 12
Rightly so, Dell Boy wins on all three cards: 117-109, 114-112, 116-110. You could argue that was Chisora’s best performance ever.
It must be said: That 114-112 card is a joke.
23:29
We go to the scorecards…
23:26
Wallin down again!
Right at the very end of the 12th, Chisora drops Wallin for a second time with another barrage of hooks. He’s up in time to beat the count, even though the bell has gone already. That was masterful from Chisora, he must have won this by a mile on the cards.
23:23
One left
Both men look knackered during a pedestrian 11th. The damage around Chisora’s right eye looks really bad now, which makes his performance tonight even more remarkable. Right, here we go, the last ever Chisora round on British soil.
23:18
10 down, two to go
After putting so much into the ninth, Chisora seems to slow dramatically in the 10th but Wallin cannot capitalise. His trainer Joey Gamache tells Wallin he can KO Chisora now that he’s tired. Let’s see if he’s right in the 11th round.
23:14
Huge ninth
A massive breakthrough for Chisora, who lands an overhand right on Wallin’s forehead. He seems to have taken it well but all of a sudden he is tottering backwards and ends up on the canvas. He beats the count and holds on for the rest of the round. Into the 10th we go.
23:11
DOWN GOES WALLIN!
with a minute gone in the ninth…
23:10
Chisora unloads
Chisora unloads with close to 20 unanswered punches, most of which land, with Wallin against the ropes. The crowd respond in kind to the 41-year-old attempting to find a finish but the visiting southpaw holds firm, just. But how much will that have taken out of Chisora?
23:06
War, baby
After a pretty quiet seventh, Chisora comes alive at the end of the round with Wallin against the ropes and lands with more hooks from both sides. The Swede stays on his feet but some of those definitely got through.
23:02
Six down…
Russ Anber goes to work on those cuts after the sixth as referee John Latham confirms the damage was caused by an accidental clash of heads. That’s great news for Chisora. If it goes to the cards any time soon, he will win by a mile.
23:00
Doctor called in…
With 1:46 left in the sixth, the doctor is called in to have a look at some serious damage around Chisora’s right eye. It would be a cruel way for this night to end, but the doctor says it’s ok for him to carry on.
22:57
Ooooh Dereck Chisoraaa…
Rings around the Co-op Live Arena as Del Boy continues to control the action. Chisora is having no problem landing with his rear hand whether he’s in orthodox or southpaw. Wallin is offering basically nothing and Chisora must be miles ahead on the cards at the halfway point here.
22:50
Three down…
And there’s every chance Chisora has won all three of them. Wallin is simply not throwing enough to make an impression here and, although it’s not always tidy, Chisora is the one forcing the action and landing the most. This time it’s a big overhand right that draws a response from the crowd. Into the fourth of 12 we go.
22:46
Good second for Chisora
More of the same in round two, with Chisora stalking a tentative Wallin throughout. The Londoner even spends most of the round in southpaw and lands with a hard lead hook in the closing stages.
22:41
Straight to business
The 18ft ring looks absolutely tiny now there are two big heavyweights in the middle of it. Straight away, Chisora is on Wallin’s chest, attempting to land with hooks to the body and head. Wallin does well to nullify him for the most part while also spearing a couple of sharp left hands home from his southpaw stance.
22:32
What a reception
In a floor length leather coat with ’49’ on the back, behind his trademark Union Jack bandana and beneath a black stetson, Dereck Chisora emerges to Hotel California and soaks up the adulation of the crowd. What a career he has had.
22:27
It’s main event time
With the undercard now finished, it is time for the main event: Dereck Chisora’s final fight in the UK. It’s No.49 for the two-time world title challenger as he takes on Otto Wallin at the Co-op Live Arena. It’s ringwalk time…
22:19
What now for Heaney?
The 35-year-old former British champion Heaney is now 18-2-1 (6) but has been on a hard run since he won that belt with a stunning victory over Denzel Bentley in November 2023. After drawing with Brad Pauls in March last year, he was then halted by him four months later and this defeat means he has now been stopped twice in a row.
22:15
IT’S ALL OVER! TKO FOR KHATI!
A stunner here in Manchester as Nathan Heaney, ahead on the cards, is stopped by Sofiane Khati midway through the seventh. After getting up from an early knockdown in the round, Heaney could just not keep the Frenchman off him. He was simply unable to fire back while under heavy pressure from Khati and referee Bob Williams jumps in to stop it. The official time of the stoppage is 1:08 of round seven.
22:12
DOWN GOES HEANEY!
Heaney is down early in the seventh! Up he gets…
22:08
Problems for Heaney
Heaney returns to the corner after a torrid fifth round. He is bleeding heavily from the nose and a cut above his left eye and had to get through a mini crisis after Khati crashes two hard left hooks home. Can he regroup in round six?
22:04
Four down
This is not just one-way traffic as Khati responds to a tough couple of rounds with a few shots of his own. He leaves Heaney with a bloody nose and is starting to have some success here. Into the fifth we go – this one is scheduled for 10.
21:56
Another good Heaney round
More good work from Heaney, who has settled in to the Co-op Live Arena nicely. The volume around the venue goes up a few notches towards the end of the second when a good right hand turns Khati round. Into the third we go.
21:52
Round one done
A decent start for Heaney who looks to control things behind his long, sharp jab. He finds the target with a couple of right hands too in a solid opening round. Khati is struggling to get past Heaney’s range.
21:47
Slight delay…
Nathan Heaney has to change his left glove for some reason so we are just waiting for the new one to be wrapped and taped before we can get underway. He now has one striped glove and one black one.
21:43
Why, why, why, Delilah?
Here comes one of the best ring walks in British boxing as Nathan Heaney and his noisy mob of Stokeys sing Tom Jones once again. Heaney is about to fight the 17-5 Frenchman Sofiane Khati over 10 threes.
21:35
And still
A very impressive performance from Jack Rafferty, who successfully defends his British and Commonwealth super-lightweight titles for the first time. On that showing, he’s not far behind the likes of Dalton Smith and Adam Azim in the British 140lbs running.
21:32
It’s all over!
It looked like a stoppage was imminent and so it proved. Rafferty got back straight back to work in the seventh, patiently chipping away at MacMillan. After more straight right hands find the target, MacMillan’s corner throw the towel in midway through the seventh. Official time was 1:37.
21:29
Halfway home
Perhaps just sensing that MacMillan is fading again after a little rally in the fourth, Rafferty is beginning to turn the screw in the sixth. He is just upping the volume slightly and shortening the gaps in between phases. It feels like he may go in search of the stoppage shortly…
21:25
Five down
After a few concerning moments in the fourth, Rafferty gets back behind his jab and back in control during the fifth. “Get on now…start hustling,” MacMillan is told by his corner before the start of round six.
21:20
A good fourth for MacMillan
Rafferty just seems to have slowed down slightly in the fourth and MacMillan takes full advantage in the final minute, landing with a number of clean right hands to show everyone that he’s not done yet. This one just got interesting.
21:17
Three zip
Three rounds down and surely three rounds in the bank for the defending champion Rafferty. The challenger MacMillan might need a change of plan here.
21:12
Jack in the box
Rafferty is dominating this fight from centre ring and looks well into his groove in the second round. MacMillan has just two stoppages from 17 wins and it does not look like ‘Demolition Man’ has an ounce of respect for his power. Can he find a shot to slow Rafferty down?
21:08
Bright start for Rafferty
A very good opener for Rafferty, who just seemed to be closing the distance towards the end of the round. A couple of right hands in particular appeared to momentarily stun MacMillan – is that a sign of things to come as we head into the second?
21:06
British and Commonwealth action next
This showdown between 24-0 Jack Rafferty and 17-1 Reece MacMillan should certainly provide a few more fireworks than the last fight. The British and Commonwealth super-lightweight titles are on the line – can MacMillan end what is the biggest unbeaten record in British boxing right now and claim the belts? We are underway here.
20:55
Zach Parker UD10
Not a classic, that one, but Parker gets the win despite a nasty cut. The judges scorecards were as follows: Mark Bates 98-92, John Latham 98-93, Mark Lyson 97-94.
A clear win, therefore, for the Derby man despite being nowhere near his best and he moves to 26-1 (18) as a result of it.
20:51
Final round incoming
Parker has to be way ahead on the cards here and just needs to get through this final round to win the fight and move on. But can Diallo find something from out of nowhere?
20:48
Parker lands a big one
Parker lands with a big right hand with a minute gone in the eighth and Diallo definitely feels it, stumbling backwards momentarily. The Derby man decides to force the issue and throws a few more. But the French visitor manages to handle the mini barrage well while Parker looks exhausted as a result of it. Two left here and this could be interesting.
20:43
Up close and personal
Parker seems totally unable to get his distance right here. Instead he throws a jab and then gets up close and smothers any further work. A lot of the seventh was spent with Diallo against the ropes and Parker holding him there. Strange performance so far, how much has the cut caused it?
High brow
That cut is really bad and the referee might be tempted to get the doctor to have a look at it before too long. The Sixth round drifts by with very little happening again. There are four left here.
20:35
Halfway point
That’s five down and five to go here. Parker is ahead but cut badly and replays have just shown that it was caused by a punch. Can Parker show his class here and go through the gears? Into the sixth we go.
20:31
Bleeding heck
There’s a load of blood on the boxers as they finish round four with Zach Parker cut badly over his right eye. Even when he comes out for round five it’s still pouring. This could be a real problem for the 25-1 30-year-old. Unclear whether it was caused by a punch or a clash of heads.
20:23
Three down
That’s three rounds gone and basically nothing has happened yet. Parker has spent some time in both stances but he has not landed anything of note and the most notable thing Diallo has done is push Parker off the ropes. Roberto Duran is ringside, by the way.
20:19
One down…
A reasonably low-key first round comes and goes. Just having a closer look at Diallo’s 21-1-2 (18) record. His last fight was March 2024, a stoppage win against Nadjib Mohammedi – remember him? He boxed Nathan Cleverly way back in 2010 on the Liverpool card where James DeGale stopped Paul Smith.
Anyway. I digress. Back to this one. Second round is underway.
20:11
Zach Parker next..
After Zak Miller edges Masood Abdulah to win the British and Commonwealth featherweight titles, it’s time for a different Zach, Parker, to do the business. He was supposed to be fighting Willy Hutchinson here but after the 26-year-old was injured, Parker will now take on Mickael Diallo. They’re about to get this 10-rounder underway.
Derek Chisora faces Otto Wallin in Manchester tonight in what is expected to be one of his final contests. The show is therefore taglined as ‘The Last Dance’.
