Claressa Shields open to potential fights with Mikaela Mayer and Lauren Price

THREE-DIVISION undisputed queen Claressa Shields has teased a possible move down to 154lbs, naming welterweight champions Mikaela Mayer and Lauren Price as two potential opponents.

‘The GWOAT’ enhanced her decorated career last month, becoming the first ever fighter, male or female, to claim all the jewellery across three weight classes.

It was a dominant unanimous decision victory over Danielle Perkins up at heavyweight that saw the American secure the remarkable feat, while also extending her unbeaten record.

But now, it would appear that Shields, 16-0 (3 KOs), could drop all the way down to super-welterweight in a bid to further cement her illustrious legacy.

Among those on her hit list is unified welterweight champion Price, 9-0 (2 KOs), who would need to move up a division should she wish to take on the 30-year-old.

The slick southpaw comes off a masterful performance against Natasha Jonas, unifying the WBC, WBA and IBF titles with a comprehensive unanimous decision victory.

But while she is likely to chase a potential undisputed clash, the Welsh woman could instead be tempted by a more lucrative outing against Shields.

“[I saw] Lauren Price fight and I was like, ‘wow, pretty impressive,’” Shields told Sky Sports.

“[154lbs] is the lowest I can get. And if [Price] wants to fight at 160 [lbs], too, don’t be afraid to eat a hamburger and come on up.”

Despite expressing her interest in fighting Price, Shields has also teased an intriguing matchup with her good friend, WBO welterweight titlist Mayer, 20-2 (5 KOs).

The pair flirted with the idea in an interview on Sean Zittel’s YouTube channel, as both showed a willingness to meet each other at super-welterweight.

But before anything, Mayer must first get past Sandy Ryan, with their eagerly anticipated rematch taking place later this evening in Las Vegas, Nevada.
