CHRIS EUBANK JR could face punishment from the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) following the events at their first press conference on Tuesday.
At Manchester Central both fighters sat down for the launch event ahead of their fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 26. Both men had plenty to say as did their teams with them at the top table.
Their rivalry has escalated somewhat after the cancellation of their fight which was originally scheduled for October 2022. During fight week it was revealed Benn had failed a drugs test for the banned substance Clomifene. The Londoner then fought a two year campaign to clear his name which he did so towards the end of last year.

After verbal shots were exchanged at yesterdayโs press conference the two men came face to face. The anticipation was that something may happen and after some more back and forth Eubank struck Benn in the face with an egg. Benn was incandescent with rage and had to be restrained by security. During the melee Nigel Benn grabbed Eubankโs neck while Bennโs promoter Eddie Hearn appears to push Eubankโs promoter Ben Shalom.

One man who watched the action was the British Boxing Board of Controlโs Robert Smith. The BBBofC General Secretary spoke to The Ring and said: โWe’re obviously disappointed he did such a silly thing. He struck Conor which was inappropriate, it was irresponsible. We’ll deal with that at a hearing when we call for a hearing. We’ll get one in as soon as we can possibly get it on.
โI can’t speculate [on punishment]. There’s lots of things they can do, they can withdraw licenses, they can fine, they can suspend, they can put conditions on licences.โ
A second press conference is scheduled to take place tomorrow (Thursday, February 27) at 6pm at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
