BELFAST star Carl Frampton will fight Nonito Donaire on April 7, promoter Frank Warren has revealed.

Frampton is a former two-weight world champion who returned from defeat to Leo Santa Cruz to beat Horacio Garcia at the SSE Arena in Belfast last month. Donaire, an acclaimed international fighter who has won world titles at flyweight, bantam and super-bantam in a thrilling reign, will take on Frampton in his stronghold in April.

Promoter Frank Warren told Boxing News, “That’s a good fight. That’s got fight written all over it and that’s what it’ll be, a fight.”

It is “a done deal” for IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby to take on Josh Warrington, where the victor will expect to take on the Frampton-Donaire winner.

Carl Frampton next fight

“Carl, his last fight was a tough fight for him,” Warren said. “The next one will move him further and hopefully he comes though that and he’s got the winner of Selby and Warrington.”
