CANELO Alvarezโs mega fight against fellow pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford has been reannounced following speculation that he would face Jake Paul instead.
Boxing power broker Turki Alalshikh took to social media earlier this morning, declaring that Canelo, 62-2-2 (39 KOs), has now inked a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season.
Not only that, but WBA super-welterweight titlist Crawford, 41-0 (31 KOs), has since commented on the post, claiming that he will โshock the worldโ in September.
On Monday, it was reported by The Ring Magazine โ now owned by Alalshikh โ that the pair will lock horns in a super-middleweight showdown at the Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas.
Just a few days removed from the monumental announcement, however, The Ring broke the news that their contest, slated for September, was no longer in play.
This was seemingly because Canelo had been in talks to face Paul, though it would now appear that the YouTube sensation has been left searching for a new opponent.
Instead, it appears that the super-middleweight king has lined up his next four outings โ against bona fide professional fighters โ following a successful spell of negotiations with Alalshikh. A formal announcement is expected shortly.
Boxing journalist Mike Coppinger has reported that Jermall Charlo and Bruno Surace are both potential opponents for Caneloโs next assignment on May 4 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Then, after he squares off against Crawford in Sin City, the 34-year-old is likely to face either Dmitry Bivol, Hamzah Sheeraz or Chris Eubank Jr in February of next year.
Coppinger has added, too, that both of his planned fights for 2026 โ with the second of which being targeted for October โ are set to take place in Riyadh.
