CALLUM Simpson has earned himself another outing at the home of his beloved Barnsley Football Club against unbeaten super-middleweight contender Ivan Zucco.
The pair will square off for the vacant European title on June 7, with a full-capacity crowd expected to pack out Oakwell Stadium in Yorkshire, England.
Fan-friendly operator Simpson, 17-0 (12 KOs), was only afforded the opportunity to sell 7,000 tickets for what proved to be a compelling night of action last August.
Nevertheless, the 28-year-old claimed his British and Commonwealth titles with a comprehensive unanimous decision victory over Zak Chelli in front of his adoring fans.
After that, the well-rounded technician halted domestic rival Steed Woodall with an emphatic second-round finish before taking care of Elvis Ahorgah in equally destructive fashion last month.
Hoping to scupper the Yorkshireman’s hopes and dreams, though, is Zucco, 21-0 (18 KOs), a hard-hitting but largely unproven southpaw.
The Italian secured a wide unanimous decision victory over former English champion Germaine Brown back in 2023, claiming his career-best win on home soil.
Other than that, the 29-year-old has done little to establish himself as a top contender, with all but two of his wins taking place in Italy.
But regardless of his opponent, Simpson will undoubtedly be eager to make a statement in front of what could be as many as 25,000 fans this summer.
And with Boxxer announcing his fight on Sky Sports earlier today, tickets are indeed expected to sell like hot cakes ahead of what promises to be an unforgettable occasion.
