Cacace and Wood weigh in for highly anticipated clash

Wood-Cacace weigh in

Anthony Cacace vs. Leigh Wood Weigh-In

ANTHONY Cacace and Leigh Wood both weighed in at 129.8lbs ahead of their super-featherweight bout tomorrow night in Nottingham.

Nottingham Arena, the site of Woodโ€™s greatest triumph, hosted his dramatic knockout of Belfastโ€™s Michael Conlan in the final round of their thrilling battle three years ago. This time, Belfast is represented by Cacace, 23-1 (8 KOs), who vacated his IBF world title to make the fight with Wood, 28-3 (17 KOs), possible.

The two fighters have shown mutual respect throughout the week, though their face-to-face weigh-in brought a surge of intensity. Sportsmanship prevailed, however, as they shared an embrace afterward.

Speaking to Queensberryโ€™s Dev Sahni after the weigh-in, Wood addressed his fans: โ€œBring the noise, Iโ€™ll bring the rest. I wonโ€™t disappoint, I promise.โ€ Unlike many of his previous fights, Wood enters Saturday night as the underdog. โ€œI always perform best when Iโ€™m the underdog,โ€ he responded confidently.

Cacace, accompanied by his travelling supporters at the weigh-in, is eager to step into the ring. โ€œItโ€™s time to go. This was the final stretch. Now to refuel. Letโ€™s fight. Iโ€™m just raring to go.โ€

Wood boasts a 61% knockout ratio, but tomorrow night, his renowned punching power will be tested at super-featherweight, four pounds heavier than his usual division. Cacace, unfazed, commented: โ€œPowerโ€™s one thing to do with this game. Whatโ€™s he going to do, keep throwing bombs? He needs to be able to box and get out of different situations. Iโ€™ve got the power, too. Weโ€™re going to have to see on the night.โ€
