TYSON FURY’S rematch with Wladimir Klitschko has been cancelled. Fury was due to defend his WBO and WBA heavyweight titles against Klitschko, the man he beat for the world crown in Germany last year. The rematch, which has been postponed once before, was scheduled for October 29 at the Manchester Arena.
Only last week Fury did not attend a press conference to announce the October 29 fight. It has now been cancelled for medical reasons.
In a statement Fury’s team said: “Tyson has, this week, been declared medically unfit to fight. Medical specialists have advised that the condition is too severe to allow him to participate in the rematch and that he will require treatment before going back into the ring. Tyson will now immediately undergo the treatment he needs to make a full recovery.
“Tyson is understandably devastated by the development. “
