LEWIS RITSON continued his devastating run of form, winning the Lonsdale belt outright with four British lightweight title victories, all of them coming inside the distance.

On Saturday at the Metro Radio Arena Paul Hyland Jnr tried to fight him off but could not stand his ground with Ritson. The British champion knocked him down with a right hand over the top. On rising Hyland tried to fire back, punching with Lewis but Ritson overpowered him. He put him down a third time before the referee halted Ritson at just 2-53 in the first round.

In only his seventh professional fight Josh Kelly won the Commonwealth welterweight title, beating Australia’s Kris George in seven rounds. Kelly attacked the head and the body, battering George over the course of the contest until he eventually retired on his stool.
