DERECK CHISORA’S tilt at the European heavyweight championship, a title he has held twice before, was repelled on Saturday night. The Londoner lost a majority decision to Germany’s Agit Kabayel in Monaco.
Kabayel outboxed him. Even though one judge had it a 114-114 draw, that was overruled by the other two who scored it 115-114 and 115-113.
He was without regular trainer Don Charles in the corner.
“I’m not going to complain, I lost the fight,” Chisora told Sky Sports. “I always bounce back so I’m not worried.”
Jamie McDonnell suffered a bad cut after a clash of heads, resulting in the bout being stopped in three rounds and a technical draw. McDonnell now expects to move up to super-bantamweight.
Dmitry Bivol, no the WBA light-heavyweight champion, made short work of Trent Broadhurts, knocking him out inside the first round.
Former world champion Scott Quigg halted Oleg Yefimovich inside six rounds.
