DANNY JACOBS took a clear unanimous points decision over Luis Arias when the two boxed at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale.
He took a wide decision, 118-109 for Larry Hazzard, 120-107 for Julie Lederman and 119-109 for Steve Weisfield.
Luis Arias did not live up to his pre-fight boasts as he tried to wrap Jacobs up in clinches. He felt Jacobs power โ referee Michael Griffin scored a knockdown against him when he touched a glove down in the 11th round.
“It wasn’t one of my best performances but I definitely felt I dominated the fight,” he toldย Sky Sports.
“I wanted to get a really, really impressive knockout and I think that’s what I was lunging for a bit more than I should have, instead of putting my combinations together.
“But I’ve been out for some time but now I can stay more active, I think I will be stronger in the future.”
On the undercard American heavyweight Jarrell Miller halted Mariusz Wach in nine rounds.
Cletus Seldin stopped Roberto Ortiz inside three rounds, while on the undercard Conor Benn made his US debut, knocking out Brandon Sanudo in two rounds.
