BOXING NEWS won two remarkable accolades at the Sports Journalists Awards on Monday. Of a shortlist that included Sky Sports and the Telegraph, Boxing News Online was awarded the prestigious Sports Website of the Year award, with the Mail Online second and the Guardian third.

The judges described the site as “clean in design, unfussy and focused on its subject, with an authoritative, in-depth, exceptional quality of writing and news.”

The 110 Years of Boxing News supplement also won the prize for Special Sports Edition, emerging from a shortlist that included special editions by BBC Sport, the Telegraph, Rugby World and the Daily Mirror.

The judges described it as “a thing of beauty, crafted with love, expertise, insight and a true feel for the sport.

It is, they said, “something to keep and cherish forever.”

Boxing News editor Matt Christie said, โ€œBoxing News picked up two SJA Awards tonight which is a thrill and a huge honour. Best Sports Website and Special Sports Edition, beating some serious competition in both categories. Thatโ€™s five SJAs (the Oscars of sports journalism) in four years for one of the hardest working teams in the business.โ€
