Solomon Dacres was born on October 25, 1993, and is a British heavyweight boxer from Warley in the West Midlands.

Dacres fought 45 times as an amateur, winning 35 and losing 10. He earned a spot on the Team GB squad after a successful trial following his triumph at the 2017 England Boxing Elite Championships. The heavyweight also represented the British Lionhearts in the World Series of Boxing.

The former Worcester Warriors academy rugby player chose to turn professional in boxing after the postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In January 2021, four months before his pro debut, he said: “I don’t want to wait any longer for something that could be just a waste of time waiting anyway. The end goal for me was always turning pro anyway and getting cracking there. So it was the right time really.”

In December 2020, Dacres signed a promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing and made his professional debut on May 15, 2021, in Manchester.

Dacres racked up seven wins which included capturing the English title against Robert Ismay in March 2023. However, eight months later, it was officially announced that the out-of-contract Dacres had switched to Queensberry Promotions. “Queensberry is now where all the heavyweight action is, with the British title and world title on his platform,” he said.

His Queensberry debut on November 18, 2023, almost ended in disaster after a hard-fought win against Michael Webster. The pair met again in July 2024, with Dacres stopping Webster in the seventh round.

Dacres will defend his English heavyweight title on December 7 at Wembley Arena against Queensberry stablemate David Adeleye.

Max McCracken

Dacres trains at the Acocks Green Boxing Gym. McCracken is an ex-pro who fought five times, winning three and is the brother of trainer Robert McCracken.
