Professional career
The pro career of Ryan Walsh began on February 2, 2008 and despite periods of inactivity he has often mixed in good company at domestic level winning eight from eleven title fights.
Walsh’s first year saw him share the ring with legendary journeymen Robin Deakin, Johnny Greaves and Sid Razak. In October 2011, Walsh dropped to super bantamweight to win the English title against Liam Richards. Walsh lost his winning streak when Ronnie Clark, prone to causing an upset, held him to a 10-round draw at Norfolk Showground.
In October 2013, Walsh lost his unbeaten record to future featherweight world champion Lee Selby. But from September 2015, Walsh embarked on a famous British featherweight title run, beating Samir Mouneimne, Darren Traynor, James Tennyson, Marco McCullough, Isaac Lowe, Reece Bellotti and Lewis Paulin. Sandwiched in the middle was a controversial European title defeat to Dennis Ceylan in Denmark.
Since 2020 Walsh has boxed five times losing out to Jazza Dickens and Maxi Hughes but the veteran breathed life into his career with a first-round win against Reece Mould which gave Walsh his first stoppage win in five years and the first opening session victory since 2012.
