Professional career
The former England international and ABA champion wasted little time in the ring, winning five on the bounce under the Queensberry Promotions banner. In April 2021, Adeleye ran into journeyman Kamil Sokolowski, who was seen as a test for the young Brit. If Adeleye could get the Pole out of there, it would be a statement but he struggled against the man who took Martin Bakole the distance in 2017. Adeleye was fortunate to get the win from referee Marcus McDonnell (58-57).
Adeleye showcased his potential against Dmytro Bezus and Emir Ahmatovic in 2023 before stepping up to British title level against Fabio Wardley. The build-up included an ugly scene involving both sides, which led to punches being thrown and the champion suffering a cut.
Their grudge match was played out in Riyadh on the Tyson Fury-Francis Ngannou undercard in October 2023. Adeleye tried bringing his power to the table but Wardley’s greater experience showed on the night and won by seventh-round stoppage, retaining his Lonsdale belt.
Adeleye returns in an important matchup against English heavyweight champion Solomon Dacres on December 7.
