Biography

Professional career

Dubois made his professional debut in 2017 at the age of 19. Amassing four victories inside the distance, he then claimed the Southern Area heavyweight title before producing a fifth-round finish over Tom Little to secure the English title. In 2019, Dubois stepped up to face fellow unbeaten countryman Nathan Gorman, winning the British heavyweight title after halting his opponent inside the fifth round.

Three more victories followed before he was handed his first professional defeat against Joe Joyce in 2020, with ‘Dynamite’ taking a knee, and ultimately seeing out the referee’s count, after suffering a fractured left eye socket in the tenth round. Dubois then bounced back with two wins and, after securing a fourth-round stoppage over Trevor Bryan, became the WBA ‘regular’ heavyweight champion in 2022.

In his following outing, though, the Londoner was floored three times in the first round before securing a third-round stoppage victory over Kevin Lerena. After that, Dubois entered his first world title shot against unified champion Oleksandr Usyk in 2023. In the fifth round of their contest, Dubois landed a low blow which he still claims to have been a legal body shot. Nevertheless, it was Usyk who ultimately retained his titles with a ninth-round stoppage victory.

Following his win over Jarrell Miller, Dubois then beat Filip Hrgovic for the IBF interim title and was later elevated to full champion after Usyk vacated his red and gold strap. And despite entering his clash with Anthony Joshua in 2024 as the champion, it was considered a sizable upset when Dubois dropped his opponent four times to emerge with a fifth-round stoppage victory at Wembley Stadium, London.

Now, ‘Triple D’ is gearing up for the second defence of his IBF title against former world champion Joseph Parker in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on February 22.

Trainers

Dubois trained with Martin Bowers at Peacock Gym from his professional debut up until his defeat to Joe Joyce in 2020. After a brief spell with Mark Tibbs, he then joined forces with Shane McGuigan, who has previously worked with the likes of Josh Taylor, George Groves, David Haye and Carl Frampton.

Ahead of his fight with Oleksandr Usyk in 2023, however, Dubois linked up with Don Charles who, while previously being known as the head coach of Derek Chisora, has been in his corner ever since.
