DEONTAY WILDER ought to fight Anthony Joshua, but in the UK says Floyd Mayweather, a man who knows a thing or two about making mega-fights.

Mayweather has been the common denominator in the biggest fights of recent times.

He told Fight Hype why Deontay Wilder, the American who holds the WBC heavyweight title, should fight Anthony Joshua, the unified WBA and IBF champion.

“Look at Deontay Wilder’s last fight, he did what he’s supposed to do in great fashion,” Floyd Mayweather said.

“One thing about Anthony Joshua, he can give it and take it. So a hell of a match up. Deontay Wilder, he’s a knockout artist. Anthony Joshua, he’s a knockout artist. It should be a hell of a fight.”

But Mayweather also dismissed thoughts that Joshua ought to fight Wilder in the UK. Joshua, says Mayweather, is the “A side” and that heavyweight world title unification ought to take place in Anthony’s home country.

“I think it should happen in the UK. I think it’s bigger money in the UK. That’s just my honest opinion,” Mayweather said.

Anthony Joshua

“I think everybody’s overlooking Anthony Joshua. He’s the guy that’s the [Olympic] gold medallist. I truly believe that Anthony Joshua is the A-side because he has a huge following. He has a country behind him.”
