Alexander Povetkin to fight Mariusz Wach ahead of Deontay Wilder challenge

Alexander Povetkin

FORMER WBA world heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin will face fellow Wladimir Klitschko victim Mariusz Wach in preparation for a potential clash with current WBC champion Deontay Wilder.

Povetkin is the mandatory challenger for Wilder’s title and the pair are expected to meet next year.

Alexander, who dropped a unanimous decision to Klitschko in 2013, will meet Poland’s Wach, whom Klitschko stopped a year earlier, in Kazan, Russian on November 4.

Denis Lebedev will defend his WBA world cruiserweight title against unbeaten world No 4 Lateef Kayode in the co-feature.

World-ranked cruiserweight Rakhim Chakhiev will take on California-based Londoner Ola Afolabi further down the bill.
