Adam Azim opponent Zaur Abdullaev pulls out of Eubank-Benn 2 undercard fight

ZAUR ABDULLAEV has pulled out of his super-lightweight bout against Adam Azim on November 15, Boxing News understands.

Azim, 13-0 (10 KOs), has been out of action since February when he stopped former IBF super-lightweight world champion Sergey Lipinets in nine rounds at Wembley Arena.

On the Chris Eubank Jr-Conor Benn 2 bill at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium Azim was scheduled to take on his toughest test to date. Only five months ago Abdullaev, 20-2 (12 KOs), challenged Raymond Muratalla for the IBF interim lightweight title.

Muratalla went on to win a unanimous decision against the Russian and was upgraded to full IBF lightweight world champion soon after, whilst Abdullaev opted to move up to super-lightweight and accept a scrap with one of the UK’s rising stars.

Yet, according to Boxing News’ sources, the Dydymkin-born 31-year-old has now made the decision to withdraw from his bout against Azim on one of the biggest cards of the year.

At present, it is unknown if Abdullaev has pulled out due to injury or not.

We understand that a replacement is being lined up for Azim allowing him to remain on the card.
