A battered and blind Julian Jackson scores one of the most unforgettable KOs in history

JULIAN JACKSON w ko 4 HEROL GRAHAM
November 24, 1990; Torrequebrada Hotel & Casino, Andalucía, Spain
REJECTED as a matchup by the British Boxing Board of Control due to Jackson’s dodgy eyesight, this clash for the vacant WBC middleweight title eventually landed in Spain. Graham boxed perfectly for three rounds in this (eternally elusive) quest to win a world title. The referee visited both corners at the end of the third to tell them that Jackson would only be given another round due to his grotesquely swollen left eye. Graham, against the wishes of his corner, then made the worst decision of his boxing career: He stepped on the gas. A little over a minute into the fourth, Jackson swung a desperation right hand that socked the over-confident Graham out of consciousness. The grisly scene was complete when the Brit’s head thudded off the canvas.

DID YOU KNOW? Graham was out cold for a little over five scary minutes. On his way back to the dressing room he fell again and was forced to spend the night in a Spanish hospital as a precaution.

WATCH OUT FOR: The KO punch.
