YOUR choice for the world’s seventh best fighter of 2014 is IBF super-middleweight boss, Carl Froch.
The ageing ‘Cobra’ had such a torrid time with bitter enemy George Groves in November 2013 that a return was set. It occurred on May 31 and it captured the imagination of the British public – so much so, that almost 1million paid to watch the sequel on Pay-Per-View in the UK alone.
Many were expecting Groves to defeat Froch, but the champion was magnificent – particularly in the eighth round when he uncorked a pulsating right hand that ended the bitter feud.
That was Carl’s only action of the year but this high placing illustrates how well received his performance was.
