Zaquin Moses signs promotional agreement with Matchroom Boxing

SHAKUR STEVENSON has been joined at Matchroom by his younger cousin Zaquin Moses.

On Friday (December 27) it was announced that the 19-year-old super featherweight had signed a promotional agreement with Matchroom Boxing.

Moses, 1-0, made his professional debut on the Jaron Ennis-Karen Chukhadzhian 2 undercard in Philadelphia. Eddie Hearn’s final U.S show of 2024 was watched ringside by Stevenson, 22-0 (10 KOs), who signed his own promotional deal with Matchroom back in August. The current WBC Lightweight champion is still to make his debut for the British outfit but will eventually do so on February 22 against Floyd Schofield.

Signing Moses is another coup for Hearn who is into his eighth year of promoting Stateside. The teenager defeated Michael Ruiz, 1-4, on his debut over four rounds. His points win kicked off a career tipped for great things for the New Jersey boxer who was a three-time national amateur champion and beat the highly touted Curmel Moton in March 2023. Moton is already up and running in the pros with six wins from six.

Speaking to Boxing News in November, Stevenson gave his reaction to his cousin’s debut in the paid ranks.

“I thought he looked good. It’s little things he need to work on but other than that he looked real good and he had fun.

“We going to get him a lot of fights, get him moving. He’s going to get better and better.”
