Where to watch Carl Frampton vs Leo Santa Cruz II in the UK

Carl Frampton

CARL FRAMPTON’S eagerly awaited rematch with Leo Santa Cruz on January 28 will be broadcast by Sky Sports in the UK.

Frampton outpointed Santa Cruz in one of the 2016 fights of the year out in New York – which was shown on BoxNation – and the Las Vegas return has been scooped up by Sky.

The news comes shortly after the channel also confirmed they will show James DeGale’s January 14 unification fight with Badou Jack.

“I’m working more now on securing some big international fights for Sky,” promoter Eddie Hearn recently told Boxing News.

“That’s what I’ve been doing out in America. I’m not looking to do 30 shows a year, I’m looking to do maybe 16 quality shows a year. You’ve got ITV, BT Sport etc. There’s a lot going on. It’s good for boxing, I’m quite relaxed taking more of a backseat now.”

With Frank Warren signing a landmark deal with BT Sport and terrestrial channel ITV also throwing their hats into the ring, competition over television rights in the UK will be fierce in 2017.

Clearly, Sky are eager to maintain their position as the UK’s leading broadcaster of boxing. One other key international fight that has not yet had a UK broadcaster confirmed is Gennady Golovkin’s March 18 meeting with Danny Jacobs.
