The brilliant Ukrainian is defending his super-featherweight world title against Guillermo Rigondeaux in December but another superb fight for him would be to step up to lightweight to go for a third division world title and take on Jorge Linares.
Linares has called for this fight already. Two of the best boxers in the 135lbs division, this clash would determine the unquestioned number one in the weight class.
Linares only beat Campbell, an Olympic gold medallist, on a split decision. The man from Hull proved himself as stern a challenger as there is out there and will improve as well for a rematch.
4. Terry Flanagan
Linares has made his name in recent years defeating some of Britain’s finest boxers, Kevin Mitchell, Anthony Crolla and Luke Campbell, Manchester’s Terry Flanagan holds the WBO world title and perhaps he could be the latest Englishman to take on the Venezuelan and begin to unify world titles in the division.
5. Ray Beltran
The solid Mexican has doggedly worked his way back up the lightweight rankings. He’s determined to get a final crack at a world title and Linares, at present, is the man to fight in the division.
