The Details: Joshua Buatsi vs. Dan Azeez

A POSTPONEMENT to the original Joshua Buatsi-Dan Azeez fight date last October was a disappointment, no doubt. However, on Saturday night (February 3) it may prove to be the case that good things come to those who wait.

Originally planned for London’s O2 Arena, the bout ultimately had to be put on hold when Azeez suffered a back injury. Nearly a month later it was announced that The OVO Arena, Wembley would stage the rearranged fight on February 3, 2024.

Since then Buatsi and Azeez have aimed more and more digs at each other. It’s uncharacteristic of the two and perhaps a sign that their patience has grown thin at having to wait a few months more to punch one another.

The narrative of south London bragging rights and a friendship put to one side has been the constant selling point. But what should not be forgotten is that this is one of the best matchups to be made at light-heavyweight which does not involve divisional leaders Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol. And Saturdayโ€™s winner will be one step closer to facing one of those two later down the line.
