Dave Allen (Heavyweight contender)
I think boxing returns at the earliest around September 2020. But we could possibly be waiting until next year now. That really wouldn’t surprise me at all.
Wayne Alexander (Former European super-welterweight champion)
I can’t see there being any regular boxing events until the start of the new season at the end of September or beginning of October. Unless we have a massive show in the summer, I see the board waiting until the whole country has the medical all-clear and can get back to working normally again.
Nigel Wright (Former English super-lightweight champion)
Although we all love and are missing boxing, it has to be safe. When that day comes, boxers then need to prepare for fights. Sparring and training can commence properly but most fighters like a 10-12-week training camp to prepare for title fights. Personally, I think we will be looking at August/September if everyone follows the guidance. Stay at home, support the NHS, save lives.

I’d be surprised if British boxing’s even close to returning in July, which is a sorry thought. I hate to say it, but I’ve often believed professional boxing, in a lot of ways, is a thankless way to earn a living, unless you’re one of the lucky few. By the end of this year we might be reflecting this was the worst period of all.
